Scottsdale, Arizona Traffic Cameras

I live in the East Valley, but today I had to take a drive to the Northwest Valley to show a house.  Since I drove the 101 freeway, I had to beware of the traffic cameras!  It's been awhile since I've been up that way, so I couldn't remember exactly what streets the cameras started and ended at.  Well, now I know and I thought this could be helpful information to people who are new to the Valley!  The cameras are located on the 101 freeway as you drive through Scottsdale.  There are several of them, covering both directions of traffic, located between the 90th St./Pima exit and the Scottsdale Rd. exit.

There are also speed and red-light running cameras located in many other cities throught the Valley.  Here's some more information on many of the traffic cameras in MesaDrive safely!

That's a great post for the locals there. I grew up in DC and I remember that in Alexandria, VA, the cameras on the streets actually trigger the stop lights. If you're speeding, the light up ahead turns red to actually make speeding take you longer to get where you're going.

I live here in the Valley of the Sun, and I'm glad to see the cameras returned to the 101. People are driving at insane speeds, and the cameras are a deterent to speeding for most of us. The rest? Perhaps a few tickets with really high fines will slow them down, too, and make it safer for all of us.

Other cities are considering following Scottsdale's example. I hope they do.

I used to live up in Scottsdale and there are a few more cameras that are not on the Freeways for you to be aware of. The one I remember is on Bell road a little west of Scottsdale road.

Personally I like the cameras, but I live down in Chandler now so I dont have to worry about them nor the crazy drivers up in Scottsdale!
