« My Real Estate Tip for the Day - the "Worst House Theory" | Main | Mesa Says No to Property Tax » Tuesday, May 16, 2006New Arizona Developments - Southeast ValleyNational Gypsum Co., a major manufacturer of gypsum wallboard, is eyeing a site between Phoenix and Tucson, near Eloy, for a future manufacturing plant. The $140 million facility is projected to be operational by mid-2008. It will be capable of producing 1 billion square feet of wallboard annually, or enough for about 100,000 average-sized homes. If the Eloy deal is unable to be negotiated there are other sites in Pinal and Maricopa counties that do meet National Gypsum’s requirements. The new plant will create about 100 direct jobs and another 150 related jobs. This is a significant employment impact to the growing region. If the Eloy site is selected by National Gypsum, several new housing developments within 20 miles will be available to the company’s employees.
